Natural Ways To Reduce Body Odor
In some cultures body odor is not only acceptable, but it is actually enjoyable. There is some basis for this because of a substance the body emits called pheromones. Although we can’t sense them consciously, as with the sense of smell, we ‘sense’ them on a subconscious level and are drawn to members of the opposite sex. This is sort of like a natural aphrodisiac. In our western culture we view body odors as unpleasant so we make every effort to mask the smell. Unfortunately, pheromones are thought to be inhibited by our use of deodorants and perfumes. Maybe to naturally reduce body odor without the use of chemicals that inhibit pheromones is the way to go! We could reduce unpleasant odors without masking pheromones.
There is a recipe of sorts which uses zinc for a natural deodorant. It calls for you to mix zinc oxide with witch hazel. Add some Aloe Vera and some natural essential oils for fragrance and put the mixture into a spray bottle or atomizer. Use under the arms to naturally treat odors. Essential oils as a fragrance are not known to interfere with pheromones. In fact, some preparations that use pheromones as a natural aphrodisiac also include essential oils.
Another natural remedy for body odor is a potassium alum stone. Simply wet it and rub it under the arms. It is an astringent and a natural antiseptic which inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause the odor. And then there is rosemary oil. It also inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria and it smells great too!
If you are concerned with all those chemical compounds in your deodorant there are inexpensive, natural and healthy alternatives. With a little trial and error you can find one that is effective for you.
