Premature Aging of the Skin
Actually, there are two types of aging. We have a genetic predisposition that either keeps our skin younger looking later in life or the tendency to age prematurely. This is called intrinsic aging in that the causes are genetically inherent. The other cause of aging is extrinsic aging that is a result of factors outside the body. Environmental factors like overexposure to the sun and elements can cause extrinsic aging. Also, smoking and other addictions can wreak havoc on the skin.
There are surgical procedures that will stretch and tauten the skin to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, however, those procedures are costly and come with a certain amount of risk. Anytime general anesthesia is administered there are inherent risks. Many people who do not want to undergo “face lifts” settle for injections of Botox. Recently there have been a multitude of serious side effects that have been reported among which are serious infections and unexpected scarring and disfigurement. Sometimes neither of those alternatives is worth the risk.
For anyone who is looking to reduce the ravages of aging there are supplements that are scientifically tested and clinically proven to reduce lines and wrinkles effectively. While most creams and lotions that contain collagen can temporarily moisten lined and parched skin, they are just that, temporary. There are skin solutions that provide nutrients that penetrate down to the deepest layers where collagen is manufactured.
Supplements can also undo much of the damage on a cellular level by providing those nutrients that enable skin cells to begin producing collagen again. Whether you find a topical skin solution or decide to go with supplements, look for one that is high in antioxidants.
